I think that having a solid religious foundation is the absolute best thing that could ever happen to anyone. And if your religious beliefs can't adapt to a changing world, then I have to question how valid they were to begin with.
From a Christian standpoint, it's more important than ever to follow Jesus' teachings and commandments. Technology and scientific advances are good, but they've also led to some heart-breaking issues and dilemmas, as well. (The Terri Schiavo case comes to mind.)
In uncertain times, it's good to have a standard for action, and I find that Christ's teachings are good, reliable guides for living my life.

Religious people believe their way is the best way to live because if we all abide by the rules then everyone knows what to expect of each other.
Those who do not believe in God are a threat to the wellbeing of the community because if there is no God then there is no accountability either and so long as you don't get caught you can commit any atrocity and live scott free.
I agree with you that some religious practices do look like
superstitious mumbo jumbo to the rational thinker, but no matter how rational we become there is no better way to live a happy life than to obey Jesus' command about loving our neighbour (by that he means to love everyone), and to forgive our enemies which also makes sense because hatred only engenders more hatred down the generations.
We all want happiness for our children but how can they be happy knowing there are those who hate them?

I believe that we are the 13th colony and am quite content with letting the cylons figure out what my religion should be when they get here. That is, unless the colonial refugees and the battlestar Galactica don't get here first. Either way, I can't wait to meet Starbuck.

What I know is,
If it wasn't for the fictional satan character the Bible would only be 2 pages long and end with the words
"...and God created Eve for Adam and they lived happily ever after. THE END"

I should go down and worship them because they have made themselve God,to say who should go to hell and who should not. So since they are Human I will worship the God of my youth not man and I will not listen to the confuses because they are right in theirs own eyes

You know why people believe on that religion its because of the history that GOD is blah blah blah. The prophets are blah blah blah. I do believe in GOD but nothing more, nothing less.
BIBLE makes our history in religion and whatever.....! ;)
