If you are asking about the grammar, the question is correct as it stands. In your version, you would be saying the profession has no qualifications for it.
I'm not sure I understood your question but I hope this helps.

It is incorrect to split a verb clause, namely "persons adopt it."
You always put the noun and verb together, without anything between.

The way you rewrote the sentence is awkward and less clear than the original.

Sorry I misunderstood the first time.

He's saying that people who can't write, adopt the profession of writer because it's so pleasant. Does that clear things up?

It's a joke.

"A vast number of persons adopt it" means that lots of people take up writing.

"who have no qualifications for it" means that their writing is poor; they are not qualified to be writers.

So what the author is saying is that writing is very pleasant, many people do it, and many people who do write are not very good at it.

In other words, people publish books or articles but are completely unskilled in putting two sentences together. These people are often called hacks.
