Yes, it is deceitful and to me he is an example of a modern day Uncle Tom, as are all the millionaire rappers. They dance and mock their own kind to put MILLIONS in their own pockets and BILLIONS in the pockets of the white label-owners at the expense of decent hard-working black families.

When Hip Hop first started it was not taken seriously because of its urban roots, now Corporate America supports and endorses it whole heartedly. This remarkable change of heart is fed by $$$$$$$. The way to sensor what comes out of a rappers mouth would be to boycott all hip hop untill the proper changes were made. Unfortunatly money or lack there of, is and always will be, the only thing that the people who have the power to make these changes understand. But what's most disturbing is that there ar'nt enough young people like you that have enough self pride to care. As far as Reparations for ruined reputations in America, LoL, I guess you'll get that along with our 40 acres and a mule. G.I.

That is the exact difference between Imus and Simmons.
Imus called a particular group of women Hoes,
rappers are not saying your momma, you or anyone else is a Hoe. Both are degrading to women. But Imus is a news reporter and should never talk in street vernacular. He isn't street. Matter of fact he is someone that should be above it.
Two thugs rob banks does that mean that Imus should be able to rob one bank because he does good things for charity, since thugs always rob banks? NO! wrong is wrong and neither he or the rapper should but Imus definitely shouldn't. He knows better.
Besides have you ever heard of tribe called quest, The roots or many other rappers that don't use profanity or ignorant words in their verses, no cause they are not popular super mainstream groups because ignorant is what sells and ignorant is what the producers and corporations sell. Don't paint everyone with one brush.
Rick Rubin is Russell Simmons' boss, but no one talks about him. Hm-mm I wonder why? He is the mastermind behind the whole thing.

Simmons doesn't owe you anything in reparations. he does not have the power to ruin your reputation, only you have that power. if you act like a 'ho' (when did the proper word "whore' get too so difficult we feel the need to shorten it?) you will be look upon as a whore. if you act like an educated woman with class and dignity you will be treated as such. life is too short. ignore the idiots.

As I read all the post about Imus and Rap stars. I have noticed that the words that were so offensive that Imus used are reprinted in posts. But the words from Rap music can't be posted and are censored in post. Also. Mr. Simmons should just keep dancing to the oldies and stay out of Rap.

some women are hos, be it black, white, chinese, japanese or hispanic. most rappers deal with hos. so they rap about them. this in no way classifies the majority of women. just because hip hop artist use this terminology in their raps, does not justify anyone going around calling women hos. my grandfather use to say, just because you say it doesn't mean its so. unless you have been in the bed with them you can't assume anything. money changes everything, but the song remains the same. there is just too much negativity in the world. just make sure before you call a woman a ho in public, that she isn't loved by all for you will pay the price. be it your job, life or future. Chivalry is quite dead in the USA

Find the word "ho" distasteful as a woman, but hasn't stopped me from buying the Cds or singing the lyrics of many songs.
As for the whole controversy, as long as one group uses the word, then is fair game for all groups to use.
As for resparations to your rep, no one owes you anything personally however there should be a general fund where all rap singers & movie directors & "published" use of the word are forced to contribute to and that money used for public service annoucements to restore self esteem to females.

The problem is that it gets allowed and people don't speak up, until the term gets used by someone else... someone that can be used a whipping boy.
We need to start boycotting the huge corporations for backing these labels. Make everyone accountable for using undesirable terms..

When rap artist say ho, b****, they are not say all woman are ho's. They are talking about the sluts sleeping with them to get to the top and be in their video's. You need to talk about them sleeping with these men for the bling. Give these girls some self-esteem, and rap artist won't have anyone to call a ho.
If you feel hurt by their lyrics you must be a Ho, to feel hurt by what they are saying. I must say this "if you don't understand don't listen to it."
Don't you see what they are doing, taking the attention off Don Imus and blaming black people. No one held a gun to his head and said don you better say this. He knew what he was saying, he just didn't think he would lose his job.

reparations,reparations,reparations.
God, get off it!!
Did he name you personally?
Does he even know you?
Imus firing has started a WHOLE NEW reason to
blame someone for their language.
What happened to Freedom of Speech?
What about what Jesse and Al said about the Lacrosse players, or the Tawana Brawley case, a couple of real slander issues, but nothing is being done to those 2 frauds!!
Get a life little girl, ho is for those that deserve it.
Simmons is just doing what the Black youth wants, so do not blame him, blame yourself for not speaking up sooner.

Lots of good answers to your questions, but let me throw my two cents in: I was watching Larry King interview Valerie Bertinelli the other day. Now, if you've kept up with CNN, MSNBC, et al, you'd know that she's the new spokeswoman for Jenny Craig. I don't know what society's problem is with body image, but she certainly doesn't look fat!
Anyway, my rant continues. As Larry was asking Valerie the questions, she became flustered. Larry made the comment that he wouldn't make her nervous or she'd go and eat.
WTF??? Is anyone else as outraged by this as I am?!?
