and I have to criss cross apple sauce because the teacher told me to during her lectures (yes a high school teacher).

There are stretches that you can do to strengthen your calves and the muscles around your knees, which will help stop the cracking knees. I'm 6 feet tall and have always had cracking knees but this helped me. stand on your toes on a curb or step and go down and up, it helps a little

Sorry, not sure what criss-cross apple sauce is, but i'd suggest maybe you could wear a knee-brace. Hopefully, it's nothing serious,though, but perhaps you should consider seeing a doctor,to avoid potential problems in the future (athritis,etc). But if it's not practical or in your budget, a knee brace would be the next best thing; they have cheap cloth ones you could find in any drugstore. Hopefully that'll work for you.

OMG! Mine do that too like WHENEVER I bend down and it is usually REALLY loud! Well, I found out it just happens because your bones are growing and eventually you'll grow out of it. = )
