Now I understand Bush wants to pass a " guest worker program " but no where in there does it say anything about an Ellis island type facility , what I mean by that is Ellis island was a place where people were checked for disease and if they had them they were not allowed in , but there not checked now . Don't you believe we need this type of facility before Chagas and a host of other diseases from Mexico becomes an American problem , let alone an epidemic ?

see link on Chagas -http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-chagas15mar15,0,5645224.story?coll=la-default-underdog

you're crazy coragryph, chagas and tuberculosis are now becoming big problems in Southern CA because of the large illegal immigrant population

We need immigrants (I am one) but allowing in masses of undocumented people is idiocy, they need to go thorough some kind of medical screening and background check at the very least.

Good point... something in the way of standards needs to be set when these walking petrie dishes( no offense to our Mexican brethren... just an accurate description of health & hygene in Mexico) march across the line with their families in tow... Imagine the pestilence that we'll encounter !!! Maybe a series of vaccinations along with a full medical screening ??? Who is going to pay for that ??? Will these folks just invade our county, pocket some money by working jobs we no longer consider worthy and return home to their families and lives 50 times wealthier than they were before the arrived here ???

If we ought to have them. Which it sounds as though we are gonna ought to stay with them, no count if we like it or no longer because of the fact that our elected officers won't do something approximately it. I unquestionably think of we ought to continuously have some style of facility the place they may well be checked for ailments. yet do you extremely think of they are going to pass and verify in they do no longer probable seem to care approximately our rules.because of the undeniable fact that there is a intense value of TB and different ailments in Mexico we ought to do some thing. I say deport all of them and if relatives have a difficulty wiith it they might pass too. ignore any sort of amnesty

Not really. In the century since Ellis Island served is primary function, medical science has advanced considerable.

We don't have the kind of national plagues and infectious epidemics that we had a century or more ago. And with the invention of antibiotics and medicines, those things can be treated -- even in other countries.
