yES iT really can be an affair! I have an affair like this for about 3 years (of course we have met sometimes). Its funny but if you go to far it is extremely difficult to have a relationship like this.

I would have said that the question was foolish because I thought the answer was so straight up and obvious that everybody could figure it but then I read some of the answers. All I can say is that those who don't figure that this is an affair have a weird outlook on the whole thing - or maybe they just use it as a justification for their lifestyles- but I am damned glad they aren't my spouse.

If you are married and agreed to be faithful till the end of the marriage and you seek anykind of emotional, mental or physical satisfaction from someone other then your spouse, it is considered cheating.
You do not have to have actual physical contact with another person to cheat on your spouse. If you are involved in phone sex with someone other then your spouse then you are cheating.
Why did you get married if you cannot be faithfull to the one person you promised before family and friends to be faithful to?
Better stop and think about what your doing before you lose your spouse.
Good luck!

YES !!!!!!!! Even though it is not physical sex it is still cheating. How would you feel if your partner was having phone sex with another person. Would you feel betrayed?
Stop now and get some therapy. If this keeps happening get out of the relationship before you hurt your partner more.

It is definitely a form of cheating, if at least one of the parties is in a serious relationship with a person other than the one they were having phone sex with.

Yes, when one partner is investing their time and emotions in a direction that doesn't involve/excludes their spouse, its cheating.
When one partner is hiding this from the other, it cheating.
When one partner believes that they are entitled to more than their partner can/is willing to give - its cheating.
If the partner knows and approves - not.

An affair is anything you wouldn't mind your spouse engaging in also.
