cos 90 = 0

c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 0

a² = b² + c² - 2ab*cos(y) is the law of cosines. So at y = 90°, cos(Y) = cos(90°) = 0 and
a² = b² + c²

at 90 degrees, cos(90) = 0
so the term that has the cos in it, is zero, and can be dropped, leaving the c^2 = a^2 + b^2
