That's probably it. The water you added was most likely a bit too cold. As it warms they should settle down.

Cory cats do have a behavior where they will swim very vigorously to the surface and gulp a "breath" of fresh air. This behavior is normal, and is not anything to be worried about. As a matter of fact, some icthyologists think that air-gulping is a strategic way for some of these fish to not become hypoxic - that is, have a lack of oxygen. It's yet another way to keep on living if the water quality is bad, although in the well-taken-care-of aquarium, conditions may be great. Just be sure that you have a tight fitting lid so that they can't end up on your floor.

Sometimes my group of 4 corys start chasing each other all over, ocassionaly they pop out of the water when they come up near the surface. Glad I have a hooded aquarium.

Corys have a habit of doing that. They are going up to get air for breathing. It's normal and nothing to worry about, other than keeping them off the floor.

Hi, Yea maybe water too cold.Cant change temps w/o letting them adjust and doing it over a course of several hours.You havent added chemicals or anything?

They probably don't like your water conditions, check to make sure everything is okay.
