Not all dogs hate cats. My dog and cat love to play together. They have been raised together since they were young. It's cute when they groom each other.
Some dogs just like to chase smaller animals(instinct). It could be a cat, rabbit, etc.

They don't. dogs are larger predators than cats, and therefore see them as food. however there are some cats that will accept a dog, and if they are raised together as young they will actually be friends. humans are the only creatures that can show genuine hatred.

They really don't..
It's just the environment their raised in..
I have always had dogs and cats.
When I just had a dog and a kitten, they always played, and the dog cleaned my kittien.
When I had my cat and my new puppie, they always played.
The cat was a little jealous at first, but got over it with-in a few weeks...
Hope this helps...;)

well there's a rumor that the reason why dogs and cats don't get along is because of their ancient ancestors. Wolves did not get along with lions...etc. Another rumor is that cats are quiet and peaceful, while dogs are loud and fiesty (if you know what i mean..lol)
but there is a chance of dogs and cats getting along...i know many people who own both dogs and cats who live in peace!! :) please vote me for best answer!!

They do?
Actually, dogs just like to chase. Some dogs are predatory enough to bite a cat, but not most of them.
And when they live together, they usually become friends.

Probably coz they are very different personality wise. Most dogs want to play play play while cats are laid back and don't want interaction with something so different than them. It's a physcological thing.
