Hate to be the bearers of bad news, but the Constitution was written on Christian beliefs. The Constitution convention had no Muslims, Buhdist, Jews, Wiccans or Satanist in its rolls. What has changed has been the courts liberal interpretation of the document.

Are you on drugs?????????????????? It is the liberal courts that have stripped away the Constitution over the last 50 years. They have implied more rights into the Constitution then could possibly exist. They have also given powers to people that never had the powers under the Constitution. The liberals believe that the Constitution is a document that can be interpreted into their own doctrines. It is conservatives that tend to believe in the original intent of the Constitution.

The Constitution can be amended; an Amendment requires ratification by I believe 3/4 of the States.
The Constitution is viewed by some as a living, breathing entity with room for interpretation as times change. Others are strict constructionists, believing it is static and unchanging exactly as written.

No, because it is meant to be changed. See Article V.
In fact, it has been changed almost twenty times (27 Amendments, with 10 of them in a lump) since it was enacted. Including that bit with Prohibition Against Alcohol, later repealed.
The people you reference want to change the direction the country is headed, by imposing beliefs that they hold dear. Even if those beliefs are different than those of our Founders.
But that's happened before as well. See the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments, which fundamentally changed the way people were treated in this country in countless ways.
Personally, I don't want this to become a Christian country. But if they get the required majorities in Congress and the states to do that, then they will succeed. That freedom is what the Founders allowed, even though they knew it could be used to undermine everything that they stood for.
All we can hope is that others respect the ideals of freedom, and choose not to impose their personal religious beliefs on everyone else.

I'm a democrat and even I know that is not true.. that is why we have amendments.. they knew when they wrote it that they wouldn't establish everything and as times changed so would the need to change it... so they made it possible through amendments.. Article 5 of the Constitution

The Constitution can be amended. It is deliberately difficult to do to keep the document from getting too large because of some political agenda or whim of a group that really would not be appropriate for the majority for all times.
The want to amend it banning abortion, banning burning the flag, against gay marriage and anything that just does not fit their narrow agenda. Apparently regular laws aren't good enough for them. It is like killing flies with a sledge hammer when all you really need is a fly swatter.

Don't refer to one group of people. There are democrats who want it changed as well and there are some republicans who don't want it changed. The sad thing is, it CAN be changed, which is why everyone needs to get out and vote on what they feel.

Um, speaking as a Libertarian, It's not just the Republicans that are messing with the Constitution. The Democrats are doing just as much damage. Republicans are taking away our Personal Liberties and the Democrats are taking our Economic Liberties. And in both instances, the problem lies with our election policies and procedures. When asked "What is the most important U.S. Constitutional right a citizen has?" Go ahead what's the answer? If you said the right to vote you are incorrect. Go ahead, look. I'll wait.............................still looking? Take your time.......................Couldn't find it, could you? Nope, and the reason is, it's not there. It says that the States cannot deny you on the basis of Sex, Race, Religion, yada, yada through various amendments. But for President, no. We are supposed to vote for our State legislators and they appoint electors and they decide on the Pres. Nor, were the "people" of the states originally the choosers of US Congressmen. They amended that later. There are several reasons our founding fathers did not proffer the Right to vote to the citizens. One, as Thomas Jefferson stated was that the lack of communication and education among the citizens left them ignorant of the issues and the workings of the Federal Government (still true today isn't it?). Another reason was that "A democracy will only survive until the citizenry discovers they can vote themselves the treaury.""Give me what thay have and I'll vote for you." And yet another, "Those voted into office by the population, will be tied to the whims of the population. The concerns for the well being of the Nation will be replaced by the concern for re-election. The elected then must pander for the vote." Our Founding Fathers believed correctly that the popular (meaning by the population) vote would lead to inevetable corruption. This has taken place on both sides of the isle.
The Republicans, due to this, pander to the extreme conservative (religious) right. They wish to decide in what form of morality we live in. They are offended by certain lifestyles. They are offended at certain types of speech. They are offended by anything or anyone that does not fit their neat tidy definition of proper. Victimless crimes (I do not participate, by the way) (victimless, though can, as can anything, create victims) such as prostitution, pornography, drugs (prohibition, wasn't a good idea the first time either. theme for another day.), are moralistic, religion based issues. And the Conservatives have every right to be offended. But, guess what? No one was given the right to not be offended.
The Democrats are not innocent is this either. Many and I mean many of the Democrats programs are not listed within the power of the Federal Government either. No where in the Constitution does it say that they have the right to take the earnings, (notice I did not say winnings, rewards or any other euphanism they want to use to make it seem that it was just handed to them) and redistribute it to the "less fortunate". That's the PC term today. Seems to say those who have earned the life they have got there by some fate or stroke of luck. (By the way before you start calling me the "Evil Rich" I fall just above the established poverty line and can qualify for most programs, but I'm a big boy and can take of my family by myself.) We all make life choices. If you fail to take avantage of the opportunities offered to everyone, such as education, training, drug-addiction programs then you can't blame anyone but yourself. And the one that pisses me off the most....If you can not afford to take of yourself then how can you take care of a child. If you can not afford to care for a child then Dammit, quit having them. The rest of this country is not responsible for your stupidity. Oops, I got a little off track. The Dems are taking away our property and economic liberties and replacing them with socialism.
Both major paties in their own way are destroying this Great Republic. (We're a Republic, not a Democracy by the way.)
This is exactly why the Second Amendment was placed into the Constitution. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the SECURITY OF A FREE STATE, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." In one quote by Thomas Jefferson, the true meaning of this amendment is made clear. The Founding Fathers wanted to put in place the means for the Citizens to retake THEIR Country in the event the government began to abuse it's constitutional limits. "The Beauty of the Second Amendment is That They Will Not Have Need of it Until They Try to Take it Away." If we do not return to our Constitutional roots as a Republic, then our country will cease to be as we know it. The historical lifespan of a democracy is: Bondage, Freedom, LIberty, Prosperity, Complacency, Dependence, Bondage. So, where do you think we fall on this list?
As I said, I'm a Libertarian. But as of yet, I'm sad to say, other than on local levels our candidates have been a little on the nutty side. But as the third largest party, we are getting more and more serious individuals joining ranks. It's a shame though that Hillary's socialist democrats will have done away with the constitution long before any chance to save the Nation. Sorry, guys. I know that did not make some of you happy. Get past the rhetoric and study the woman, her history and her ideals and you'll see what I mean. But I know better. Trying to elicite rational investigation over illogical passions rarley succeeds. Especially among the polorized extremes.
In short the Federal Government panders to those who are not happy. It is not the governments job to make us happy. We have the right to the PURSUIT of happiness, not happiness itself.
One other thing. Some of you have it half right. Some things had to be changed to fit the changing times. By a 3/4 majority vote. However, each change must be in line with the original intent and premise behind this document. The Right to Life Liberty and The Pursuit of Happiness to all men (mankind) who are created equal. There is also language within the document which denies changes to certain parts. Again, both parties have and seek to further "remodel" the document around their philosophy.
And one of you stated that the dems wanted to "take away freedom of speech and remove prayer from the classroom" Again both sides of the aisle want to take away some portion or another of our Freedom of Speech. Prayer should not be lead in school by the government employees employed therein.
However, if the individual wants to pray for himself before a math test, that's not a problem. But, organized prayer in school is unconstitutional. Now, if can get the Fed government out of the schools where they don't belong, the individual school can set it's own rule. And you would be free to choose a school that fit your desires.
Good luck to us all and Long Live the Republic of the United States of America.

G-D Republican fascists!
If the founding fathers wanted us to change the Constitution they would have given us a mechanism to do so, like adding Amendments or something like that.
