The important question is "Does the law allow us the right to marry people of other races?" Yes, it does, here in the United States.

Are there racists here who refuse to accept it? Of course. Everyone has opinions, and, unfortunately, there will always be people who are of the opinion that interracial coupling/marriage is wrong. But should we care? Not at all (with the exception of caring enough to fight discrimination if you were to ever face it)! After all, you are the only one who has to live with your choices.

I've seen the country come from complete segregation of the races to relationships that at first amazed, angered, and inspired the people with whom the couple was associated.

Many pockets of dissent still exist throughout America while some major cities have been quick to accept it. Even in the South I have witnessed a gradual cessation of hostilities regarding interracial dating, but it won't entirely go away too soon.

But the Northern states can be just as biased against mingling the races too. In most military installations I've noted through the years a more accepted calmness of interracial relationships, but that is the exception.

On a personal note I have no objections to people opting for race mingling provided they know that special problems exist along with the usual problems of marriage.

There will always be those who are prejudiced, but I think headway has been made. There ARE Americans who completely accept it. There will always be those who don't. But to get even 10 people in a room and find one issue that they ALL agree on is unreasonable. It's not going to happen with millions.

I'd like to think so, I'm half white and half black. I'm 30 so it was accepted back then and things are radically different today compared to the 70's. I don't know if it'll ever be completely accepted, but it's certainly more common to see interracial couples as well as whole families nowadays.

I used to think so....then I started using this site. I have two Aunts that married inter-racially, so I have two black uncles and several mixed cousins. Mixed families has always seemed natural to me...I see now that there are way more psychotic racists out there than I ever realized.

Finally? Completely? Accepted?

I don't think so. Tolerate. Yes.

why do they need to? i always say "if you don't like it you know where the door is" i've had a few people i know "disagree" with my taste in women but their not the ones who have to live with my choices i am, so really in the end what americans accept is redundant it's here now and i don't see it going away

No. Most people accept it but I have still seen some people
who pitch a fit about seeing interracial couples.
