The one thing I don't like about charter schools is most don't participate in the communities in which they are located. There are rarely any after school/tutor programs.Rarely is a child held back they are always promoted to the next grade even if they are struggling. Most charter schools are created to alleviate over crowded schools or they are the same schools but are given charter school status because the school is being closed. Some charter schools are just as crowed as regular schools. All the teachers and staff are fired. There are no school councils allowed or pta's.Parents don't have much say in what happens in the schools. Most kids are chosen by a lottery to attend a charter school you don't have to go there if you don't want to.

Sending a child to a charter school is a personal choice of the parents. It gives the parents another option besides the public schools for their child to attend without having to pay private school admission since charter schools receive money from the government. The reasons of attendance might be poor school performance, student teacher ratios might be a bit too high, student safety issues, or offer a specialty curriculum the child might be interested in such as science, the arts, or Montessori.

A Charter School is considered a private school. They are usually better educated, have a smaller class to teacher ratio, and discipline harder than public schools.
