umm if i can extract files from zip...does that mean i have winRAR?

Not necessarily. Windows comes with it's own ZIP built-in utility. You'd know if you had WinRAR if you have RAR files and they open with the program. Best way to tell.

no, windows got a zip archive function. winRAR is stand-alone utility.

No. .RAR & .ZIP files are similar but not the same. Both compress files but in different ways.
