The horn on my car works, but when the fuse is inserted, the horn wont stop blowing. The dealer is charging 900 dollars to fix but gave me the option to go to a junk yard to purchase a used one and they will install it. I went to the junk yard and found a horn for my car (2000 dodge stratus). I tried for several hours for 2 days, but I couldnt get the horn off, and the attendants don't help you. Is there any other way I can get my horn fixed for less than $900?

Never go back to that Dealer. The problem is either a bad relay or a stuck horn button.Ask some one at Auto Zone where the horn relay is and see if they can check it.Remove the fuse to the air bag and remove the screws behind the steering wheel to get to the horn contacts.PS The horn it self is not the problem.

first off...if the horn blows...it's not the horn. most likely you have a stuck relay which is causing the horn to blow constantly....or the wire coming from the steering wheel to the horn is grounded out somewhere in the sterring column.

There is a horn relay switch under the hood. when you open the hood you will see a large black box. it will say something like "relays and fuses"

when you remove the cover...on the underside of the cover..it says what each relay is for.

Try this and then get back...if this isn't the problem I can give you some other trouble shooting ideas.

Hope this helps

Uh...a horn costs about $6, and if yours is blowing it's obviously ok anyhow. You might have a stuck horn button or bad horn relay. Both cost a few bucks. The dealer probably decided that you have something wrong in the steering column, and is claiming he has to take the whole thing apart. But even if he did, $900 is pretty ridiculous. Just take it to any decent auto electrical place.

What kind of a LIAR are you dealing with?? 900 for a horn?? Give me his name and address so I can go give him a DDT!!! You can buy any replacement horn at any auto store, like advance auto for $9.99 If the horn keeps blowing when the fuse is installed it is a short or the horn relay is bad, the relay goes for $5. Some people are just *******!!!

check the contact switch that activates the horn
the steering wheel pad may be defective
go the junk yard and remove that its probably not the horn being how it actually blows

Obviously, your horn works fine. You have a short in the wiring. Probably in the steering wheel or the relay is welded shut.
