My son was born in Guatemala. When we go to Guatemala it seems that most meals are based around one or more of these foods:
black beans
corn
plantains (cooked numerous ways) {My favorite....FRIED}
fresh fruit
pan "bread" of some sort

Before I went to Guatemala, I don't think I EVER had black beans. Now I CRAVE them. They are so good. You can make all kinds of recipes with them. Guatemalans make THE BEST "Black Bean Soup" I've ever tasted in my life!

My Mayan friends tell me that Mayans are children of the corn, while North Americans are children of the hamburger.

Most Mayan Guatemalans live by subsistence agriculture. They eat mostly corn, beans and rice, with whatever fruit is in season. They grow much of it themselves.

The North American diet is much more varied, with fresh fruit and vegetables available constantly. It is often grown thousands of miles away from where it is consumed. Meat products and fish are much more widely distributed.

In the US, it takes 3 farmers to feed 100 people. In Guatemala, it takes around 50 farmers to feed 100 people.

Hope this helps.

All living issues are born with a soul. God breathed his "living Spirit" into Adam after He became formed (Genesis 2:7). besides the fact that whilst Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they spiritually died as God had promised (Genesis 3:2). whilst Jesus became baptized God's Holy Spirit endwelled Him (Matthew 3:sixteen). Jesus promised this same Holy Spirit to His disciples till now his Crucifixion and resurrection (John 14:15-18). His promise became fulfilled at pentecost (Acts 2) and is likewise fulfilled to whomever accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (some say it extremely is fulfilled whilst one is baptized)(Acts 2:38). besides the fact that, as quickly as we sin, His Holy Spirit is quenched (a million Thessolanians 5:19). wish this enables.
