I need to take an employment test and this equation is off of the practice test. I understand how to get the answer (25200/120 = 210), but how did they reduce the fractions down to "2x5x21"? Thanks!

Find the product of: 9 3/5 8 1/3 2 5/8 ANSWER: 210

9 3/5 x 8 1/3 x 2 5/8 =

48/5 x 25/3 x 21/8 = 2 x 5 x 21 = 210

How did they get that right up there?!

They multiplied the 3 and the 8 to get 24. Then they canceled the 24 into the 48 to get 2.
Then the canceled the 5 into the 25 leaving you with 5.
Nothing was done with the 21.

9 3/5 x 8 1/3 x 2 5/8=
48/5 x 25/3 x 21/8=5 x7 x6 /1= 210/1=210

Make the 5 1 make the 25 5 make the 3 1 make the 21 7
make the 8 1 and 48 6

Well Jimbo, welcome back to the 6th grade.

You can look at the 3 fractions as a super-fraction
48 x 25 x 21/( 8 x 3 x 5)
The 25 and 5 have a common multiple 5, so out it goes, leaving (5/1) or 5. 48/(3x8) is 48/24, which reduces to (2/1) or 2.

Add. The answer would be B. You just group the numbers (3 + 2 + 2) + (1/2 + 1/4 + 5/6). Which makes 7 + 1 7/12, or 8 7/12. Or b).

well first of all that is not reduce to 2 5 and 21. they don't reduce. I think you may have to check the answer booklet once again becace you can't cross simplify or reduce the improper fracation.
