Well it was hard for me at first to fake cry. But when I played Linda Loman in "Death of a Salesman" the requiem was when I had to cry and at every practice I could never do it. But opening night I sat by myself and concentrated on my character and how I would feel if my husband committed suicide. And then the requiem came and I cried like a baby. It has to do with putting yourself in the situation. As for scaring you friends put yourself in the situation in which you are "crying" about and see if it works. Just a suggestion......alittle more complex than and onion or menthol under you eyes huh....lol. Hope this helps.

Normally when acting actors and actresses do not fake cry, we really cry. Theres something called emotional re-call. It is where a very upsetting emotion..or many sad emotions come together in the form of whatever the character is crying over. The secret to crying is telling yourself not to cry while re-calling emotions.

Hi...
I did a course at NIDA a few years back and well they taught me how to "fake" cry during a performance... but if you want to just cry on the spot its a lil harder although my general tips are:-
*get in a really emotional zone (like i know you said sad memories dont work but you really have to think about something terrible that has happen or even could happen, it doesnt have to be real)
* Now the hardest thing is you have to forget your surroundings and try not to laugh u have to be truely involved in your feelings sorta... do you get me?
* then if you are truely "in the right zone" and truely believe in what your feeling then you will cry...

i hope that helped!
salutations!

Those are the two most common ways. Understand, however, that crying on command is a skill that takes practice. Work on it and it will happen, but you'll need to work on it several times a day, every day. It won't 'just happen'. In the interim you might try and put a soaked cotton ball in one of your hands and when it's time to cry 'wipe' your eyes and squeeze the cotton ball at the same time. Practice this as well because you can't use too much or too little water or there are going to be problems. The basic advice is, practice!

Crying is quite tough. You need to have a chemical or gas which will automatically make you cry and then left is the emotional part. You will have to show that u r in pain and agony and that's why u r crying. The emotions are a mist and it matter to a great extent then the way you speak while crying. You see, you will have to focus on all these things.

If you can just think about something sad, it doesn't have to be a memory. Like, think "what if......." and just keep thinking that and try to trick your mind into thinking that it's true and maybe that'll help.

Otherwise, before you see your friends or want to start fake crying, put some eyedrops int your eyes, squeeze a LOT of them into them.

fake cry? never it is so not profesional you have to cry for real.. my boyfriend is an actor he's always practicing it's like yoga you have to do lots of exercises before you start glitting.

so practice all your emotions as well crying, yelling, screaming, laughing... remember to move all your body while you do all those emotions 'cause if you don't it looks fake.. try feeling it.. remember a moment that makes you feel that way and stay there .. it should be easy that way... remember to leave that moment and come to reality 'cause you'll become crazy if you dont.

and remember practice practice

Sorry, usually people are born with the fake cry talent.

I am very talented at fake crying, since I was a baby. I actually do think of a sad experience, or I can do it on the spot.

menthol always works for me. Just take some menthol and smear a bit near the eye and all you need to do is put some sound effect and you will start tearing like a baby. Works all the time.

Who said actors fake cry? They are actors, they can "cry on cue," as they learned in acting class.
