Each and every leader in our government, from the President to you local Sherriff is elected. Why then, can individuals sit there and justify accusations towards our leaders with such disgust and disdain? Do you think they appreciate being called liars, murderers, Nazi sympathizers, rapists day in and day out from the same constituents who put them in that office in the first place? You all need a reality check. Would you like me to hound you day after day and throw insult after insult at you and your family?

First, not all of them are elected. Many are appointed.

Second, if we didn't vote for a particular person (whether they were elected or not), what makes you think that we should automatically approve of that person?

Third, even if we did vote for someone, that doesn't mean we can't change our mind about the person based on later events.

The entire concept of free speech is to protect the political process, and allow people to express their opinions about elected and appointed officials, to influence who is in power. Taking away that freedom of opinion is the first most rapid step towards tyranny.

As far as the president, not only did I not put him in office, but his party stole two elections to put him there.

It is the responsibility of all truly patriotic citizens to speak out when their leaders do the wrong thing, or threaten to do the wrong thing.

Read the Constitution.

If he wasn't a mass murderer who ordered torture and rape, I wouldn't call him on it.

It's not my fault he decided to become a criminal; that was his decision.

There was nothing I could do to stop him.

If I committed mass murder, there would be people hounding me -- they'd arrest me and lock me up. Same if I ordered people to torture and rape.

That's what I hope will eventually happen to the Criminal in Chief.

If you don't think citizens should criticize their government, you'd be happier in a dictatorship.

Rather than helping turn this country into one, you should just move to an existing one.

Bush is a disgusting and loathsome excuse for a human being. That's not my fault.

I refuse to pretend he's a decent human being, as that's an insult to all decent human beings everywhere.

It's also a lie, and I HATE lies.

Being elected does not mean that the people complaining voted for these people. If an official got 51% of the vote, then 49% of the voters did not want this person in office.

And, if you run for office, you have to know that people will insult you and question your intelligence. These elected officials knew coming in what could happen.

Maybe the OP needs to do a reality check of themselves.

The federal funds would be $3 trillion this year (2008). For the 1st time in US historic previous over 0.5 of it is going to entitlement classes, including WELFARE, nutrition stamps, social risk-free practices, medicare & medicade, etc. it is already a million and a million/2 Trillion money! enable's calculate in one year there is 12 months x 24 hrs/day = 8,760 hours in a year; which divided into $a million.5 trillion = $171,232.87 consistent with hour, 24 hours an afternoon in entitlement classes already being spent. (be at liberty to easily right me if I did the math incorrect) do not you think of it is adequate? because of the fact the "conflict on Poverty" began with President Lyndon Johnson (D) back interior the Sixties, what proportion money have been spent, and how many undesirable human beings have relatively been helped? Why are there any undesirable human beings left? that's form-of like that old asserting, "provide a guy a fish and additionally you feed him for an afternoon [and make him dependant on you for his nutrition - so he will vote for you]; practice a guy to fish and feed him for something of his existence [yet he will scouse borrow your renowned fishing hollow once you're at artwork]. on an identical time as I agree completely including your premise that the government shouldn't waste money, yet i'm inquisitive approximately the place you acquire the quantity of $5500 an hour for Senators to amuse themselves sexually? Are you speaking relating to the Govenor of ny Eliot Spitzer getting caught with a prostitute? and how I heard it he paid $5000 for 4 hours. (not that some Senators have not accomplished it additionally.) ======================================

Let me start by saying: I know zip about politics and politians. You might not even want to read my answer and probably won't agree with it. Obviously, you have already made up your mind to be patriotic and I completely respect that.

My observation is that people believe in a system when that system is working for them. They also have a tendancy not to question the existing system if their first experience with a system was positive. In other words, if their family experience was relatively functional and "worked" for them.

That being said: I question. I really question. Currently, I am having a too-close-for-comfort look at what life is like in the U.S. (and in my family) when you are down and out. It isn't pretty, Sean, it isn't pretty.

If you do not believe me, I would URGE you to put yourself in a position of needing the assistance of some of the social services that, no doubt, you think are currently in place. With few exceptions, what you will find is the APPEARANCE of many, many programs to help but when you try to utilize them what you see is that all of the money is going to pay the numerous bureauocrats who run these programs, rather than the people for whom these programs supposedly exist.

The excuse that is given for this, is that, because of people who take advantage of the system, the program must really do a careful screening, etc. etc.

Guess what folks: No matter how hard we try there will always be people taking advantage and the criminals are much smarter than we are (hell, if I had the brains I'd probably become criminal, that's how much the system isn't working for me.) In the meantime, the person who is down-and-out is asked to jump through so many hoops, to get help, it is possitively inhumane. So that person unbalances their life, further, in the time consuming process of trying to prove they are not taking advantage, but genuinely need help, only to find that all of the money has been used up to pay workers to perform this screening.

I am going to take this a step further: Whether you realize it or not, whether it is intended or not, by the powers that be, ALL citizens of the United States are asked to do increasing amounts of "busy work" in order to get anything done. This is worse in some states than others.

If you have lived long enough and you remember a time before the "progress" of computers and how much they have sped up the pace of our lives, before policemen, doctors, hospitals, etc had so many regualtions that they could actually make a judgement call, rather than have to respond to situations in such a "hands-tied" fashion, then you will remember a time when you still had the time to think.

I would suggest that one of the things that is ruining this country is the ever increasing number of ineffective reguations designed to keep things "safe." Guess what, people: Life is messy.

So while we're all running around trying to do the "busy work" that is required of us, we have less and less time to think and to question the "powers that be." Many of us do not even have time to vote, much less get invoved in politics and work for the changes that are so necessary. Sure, we might be able to scrounge up the time to cast a vote but why vote when you have not had the time to examine the candidates platforms and track records? What do you do? Flip a coin? You could be doing more harm than good.

If you have the time to make a difference, Sean, I would urge you to work for de-regulation. I have lived in countries that are much more free than this supposed free country of ours. ("If you don't love it, leave it?" I do love it; it is my home. That does not make it perfect or even close. and it doesn't mean that I, and many like me, are not disenfranchised, because we are.)

I would urge you to work to get the power back into the hands of the masses, rather than the few top-echelon people in "big business" who run this country.

If I had the time, these are the things I would work for. If you think I am making excuses I would challenge you to a) live a little longer and observe the direction in which we are moving and b) come here, and spend a week in my shoes. One week.

Sure, I have time for Y.A. I'm up at 3am because I am so wound-up and stressed, I can not sleep without the prescription medication I can not afford. My children will be up in a few hours and I will barely manage to meet their custodial needs, much less enjoy them. Don't get me started...

It is very simply unrest among the American people and what they see in their leadership. The other question are only a result of armchair quarterbacks and viewers of msnbc. I continue to respect the offices, however, acts of hypocracy, lies and deceit give me a tendancy to call them like I see them. The leaders themselves bring this upon themselves. Had they thought down the road before telling the lie or whatever behavior that brought them into the bad light, their families would not have to suffer the humiliation of their actions. Yeah, its a tough job but ya know they get paid damn well for what they do and the flack they catch.

This is supposed to be a "Government of the people, by the people and for the people." When those leaders ignore the people, the people have a right to strike back at those leaders who are ignoring them.

Have you ever read the Constitution and the Bill of rights? Try reading it. What you narrowly see as bad for America is in fact good for America and exactly what the framers wanted. It's called decent. Try to learn some respect for the voice of the people and the rule of law.

They are in position to wield power and authority and cause a great deal of harm to innocents. When proof comes out of things they have knowingly done that is reprehesible...they deserve it as it is the only way for the public to vent their disgust and frustration. All who are in the positions you speak of know this...when they werent they did the same thing. It is called politics.

They didn't have to run for office. Nobody runs for office to serve the people anymore. Its like actors complaining about the Paparazzi, shouldn't have tried to be famous if you hate it.
