My friends horse is name Stormy which I think is a very nice name. And she is a girl but it can be either mare or gelding.
Cheyanne is a beautiful mare name. ALthough it is a persons name to.
Also for a mare, a great name is xena (zee-na)

Well, if the horse is registered he/she may have a name, but if the horse is young you could use a nickname or 'barn' name. I had a horse whose registered name was shot of honey, but his previous owners gave him the barn name cochise. When I name my pets, I often go looking in mythology, my german shepherd is Freya. Look for horses in history, mythology, or things in nature, like eclipse, vesper, breeze, well, you get the idea. Google it. Have Fun!!

Of course, there are many many names you could call a horse. Generally people name their horses according to their sire and/or dam, behaviour and or/ cool colors or markings!
I like the name Sangria (San-gree-uh)
and Santiago (San-tee-augh-oh)
They are both spanish names =)

My horse was named Missy when I got her, so it has stuck. I'd imagine you want something more creative than that, though.
I've always liked the name "Bonamy." It means good friend in French.

I have several names for my horse...his real name is Dakota Lee but I call him LaKota(LeKota) and Kodi...but when he bites me or is very rude to me usually the name azzhole comes up(lol!)
