A friend gave me his old computer.He dont know his password and I dont have computer administrative priviledges-I cant add certain programs or even defragmate.Is there anyway I can over ride or reset a new password???

I recieved this computer from my nephew. It was realy messed up.
Using Windows Pro 2000 >
Managed to download a Firewall, then an Antivirus Program, then a Spyware Program. It's finally working great.

do what frank said boot your windows into safe mode then under admin change the password.

I would recommend reinstall the operating system. You can try to call the hardware vendor and purchase the recovery disks if you don't have them.
