No. He played "Mickey" in later episodes of the series. The stupid -- and completely WRONG -- "Spanky" association began shortly after Blake was charged with killing his wife, probably because Spanky was among the most readily recognizable kids of the bunch.

He began appearing in MGM's Our Gang short subjects under his real name, replacing Eugene "Porky" Lee. He appeared in forty of the shorts between 1939 and 1944 and eventually becoming the series' final lead character. His character was Mickey. He also played "little beaver" on red ryder.

He was Mickey on the rascals and also Little Beaver on Red Ryder. With the Our Gang series he replaced Porky
