The Magna Carta required rule of law and also that a jury be established to determine truth or innocence. The Constitution does as well, requires that everyone is under law and also that everyone is entitled to a trial by jury. How this has played out in the two countries is significantly different, but the ideas were there for both.

Compare the English Bill of Rights with the US's.
