I have an invoicing software that has no features to send documents to other recipients by e-mail. But it does allow me to print them.

Is there a way to send the document to a file ... instead of the printer so I can access it and use it as an e-mail attachment?

I use Windows XP.

Can use Primo PDF creator. http://www.primopdf.com/

Once installed, you can use the software to print to it (file>print>pick PrimoPDF from the printer list)... and it will create an adobe PDF. It's freeware, which makes it that much more exciting.

In the invoicing software, click on File, Save-As and see what your options are... Text file perhaps. Also, from File, check to to see if there's an Export option. It might allow you to export to Excel or Word.

Another option is to highlight everything on the document (Ctrl + A (simultaneously)), and with everything highlighted do a copy and paste - copy it (Ctrl + C), then open a blank Word document and then try to paste it there (Ctrl + V). If it does paste there, you can save it as a Word doc.

If you can save the files to a folder. Then open the folder & drag the icon to the SUBJECT line.
