Yahoo can censor whatever they wish. Freedom of speech is only protected against government repression. Yahoo being a non-government entity can make whatever rules it wants.

If you believe that you are repressed, then I guess you are. America is a place where you can speak your mind & not have your head chopped off. Other things can happen, but that doesn't mean you still can't try to get from point A to point B. It sometimes takes a persons entire life to finally get something in America. Others die trying. It's all in a persons PERCEPTION of what's really going on or what isn't. America isn't made to understand. It's made from misunderstood individuals who left their homelands to escape persecution & life out their remaining days in peace & freedom. Our government just wants to share that with others. It's called democracy & it ain't for everyone! Some people enjoy the cave & desert lifestyle of their ancestors. Some don't. What was the question? Yeah, I KNOW I have freedom of speech. We all do. It's not what you say, it's HOW you say it. Learning the language is only a part of the equation.

In Britain, it has either been partly legislated away, particularly where race culture and religion is concerned. The most pernicious kind of censorship, however, is self censorship, which is born out of fear and uncertainty. It is at its most oppressive in the workplace, where, even if it is not against the criminal law, which it often is, it will almost certainly be against an organisations personnel policy, eg. anti-sexism, racism, disabilities, gays etc. Within the workplace it knows no bounds, particularly where someone chooses to be offended. Examples might be, Chairman = chair or chair person, blackboard = chalkboard. There are many others, some so incredible that they are beyond parody.

People loose their jobs because of it, or maybe get sued. What really saddens me though, is how ready people are to sacrifice their friends or work collegues on the alter of political correctness, or simply to blindly support it in wider society

no i do not have freedom of speech, no 1 has!
i also dislike the US administration, war-mongering, power-hungry short-sighted selfish & greedy.
yes israel is & was wrongly placed, it would have been better 2 listen 2 Sir Laurence of Arabia & his negotiation with Egypt & place it there, not in Palestine!
have u heard israel have now annexed Jerusalem, while the rest of the world were busy with Afghanistan & Iraq?
so here's an example of me using my freedom of speech.
JERUSALEM IS IN PALESTINE, NOT ISRAEL.
has 4 the past 2,000+ now how can it now b in Israel?
wait 4 the thumbs down, plenty of Israel lovers on here, blinded by jewish lies by powerful men who use religion as a cover 2 hide behind as & when it suits.
why don't they 4 once PRACTICE WHAT THEY PREACH?
get out of Jerusalem & go back to 1967 borders!
try abiding by some of the UN resolutions they have chosen 2 ignore,
when the US turned on the UN 2, it was inevitable.
turned on them so israel could continue 2 bully & harass the innocent in the middle-east, unhindered.
no wonder there's Jihad rising,
NO BLOODY WONDER IS IT?

Poor Yahoo they cop it every time.Listen I got reported.
Admit that if you get reported there is a remote possibility that you deserved it.
They have guidelines and you don't like them.Tell me where freedom of speech exists in an Islamic country. It does not because they are theocracies. If I was to condemn you in the way you condemn people I would be reported.
Anti-American is a form of racism. You cannot get away with that last sentence.

I don't know shy you say in US it is banned to promote 9/11 theories or extremist religions. I see this stuff all the time, nobody stops you from saying this stuff.
It is true that if you make statements that other people don't like, they will criticize you and maybe get angry. This is their right. If you have freedom of speech, so do they.

I find it slightly amusing that you claim your rights to free speech are curtailed when free speech also means that Yahoo! or any other company for that matter, has the right to determine what they will or will not be used as a platform for.
Yahoo has the perfect right to ban myself merely because I wrote the word "BOO!" right now. It wouldn't be fair of them if they did, but it would still be their right.
They are not obligated to give you a forum.

As is the case, I'm willing to bet that you violated their terms of agreement and that is why they killed some of what you wrote. So, in that case, not only is it their right, but it is also fair.

I agree with you. I'm an American, and after reading just one little book (The Kite Runner) I decided that we are terrible people- though yet I am still content with Americans, my own kind. I believe that Israel (Kabul too) is "wrongly" placed also because they'be been experienceing war after war after war.

That is Yahoo that does not allow it, not the government. The first amendment says the GOVERNMENT shall make no law. It does not say that a private company (such as Yahoo) can't delete your comments. Read the Constitution before you make your claims. On a side note, the Constitution does NOT say you have the right to not be offended. Think about it.

Freedom of speech? There ain't no such thing no more.

It was a convenient slogan once, but the immigrants and some privileged ethnic minorities did not like it. I am not even allowed to name them.
