Yes, this is another example of liberals who say they love freedom censoring someone who actually uses the freedom liberals say they love. It also shows how mean liberals really are. They will attack each other when a liberal says something not approved by their leaders.
I wonder if the whole Imus incident was part of a bigger liberal plan to attack talk radio, and they were willing to sacrifice Imus as part of the attack. Maybe Imus is in on it and when he is properly rehabilitated he will come back stronger and more liberal...

I've actually hear Imus referred to more often as a liberal-conservative. I'm not quite sure what that means, but what I do know is that conservatives are made to leave their posts for mistakes while liberals are rarely if ever made to own-up to their remarks... liberals tend to say things on a whim anyway. Have you ever heard a conservative leader say something so stupid? No, because they have greater integrity... that is why the media and democrats and liberals jump at any opportunity to bring down someone they disagree with, are in competition with, or who is Christian-based & conservative... Christians and most conservatives don't do that, because they truly do understand what "free-speech" is. It is not the right to say stupid, rude, or crude things at the expense of others... it is the right to speak their voice when they themselves have been persecuted or suppressed in some way. Look around... it is happening everywhere.

I'm not attacking, I really couldn't give a crap about Imus before or after all of this. But I'm pretty doubtful the guy is a liberal.
But it is sad that a simple blurt (Not a rant.) can ruin one's career. Why are Rush Limbaugh, Bill Maher, Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly, Al Sharpton, Sean Hannity, Jesse Jackson, Spike Lee and Michael Savage still around? Now these people are skilled in the art of racial, sexist, homophobic, idiotic rantings. All of them have said way, way worse things throughout their careers than Imus, though he has said some stupid things over the years.
There are many, many media personalities (On the left and right) who have gotten off scot-free for remarks and rants that were far worse than Imus's "nappy-headed hos" comments.

This is not a Free Speech issue. This is a Dirty Words issue. If Imus had made his statement in standard English, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have said "curly-haired prostitutes." That wasn't even what he meant. He would have said "tough-looking young women," or something similar. That was his actual message. The Rutgers team might have been mildly offended, but that's all.

Sorry, DC, but I have been listening to a number of conservative talk shows, and across the board, they have condemned the statement, but defended the right of Imus to make it. Unlike Liberals who only demand freedom of speech...that they agree with...conservatives demand it for everyone, even those they don't agree with.

I haven't heard any conservatives defend Imus. They just say it's liberals eating liberals and laughing. Imus is neither conservative or liberal -- he swings both ways on his politics -- he hates both Clintons and the Bushes.
Conservative pundants may let this go as a joke, they won't think it's funny when they are the next target in line. Watch them shakedown and blackmail the next set of advertisers. If it worked on Imus and no one resisted, they will use the same tactics on the next media personality they put in their cross-hairs.
Sharpton and Jackson are basically terrorists who everyone, left and right, are frightened of and appease over and over.

You have to remember that freedom of speech belongs to everyone. Even if you disagree with what they say or think, they have the right to say it. Conservatives recognize that Imus had the right to say what he did. Conservatives also recognize that the company had the right to fire him as they did. You have freedom of speech, but you must be prepared to suffer the repercussions of what you say. Liberals only believe in THEIR freedom of speech. You are correct though, it is still funny that they are attacking one of their own. I wonder what Imus thinks of that...
