where a dog attacked me and sunk it's teeth into my wrist and dug holes on the top side of my arm, the scars are really dark compared to the normal tone of my skin and are really noticable when i wear a t-shirt, so i choose not to wear t-shirts now as i get rellativly paranoid about them. Does anyone know any really effective products that will drematicly lighten the scars or lighten them enough so i can wear t-shirts again.?

It depends on how old the scars are and if the scars have been exposed to sun (without sunscreen protection). If they are new scars, be sure to limit exposure to the sun and always use sunscreen when outside.

Maderma for scars should help and seeing that they are darker than the rest of your skin an dermatologist can recommend a bleaching cream for that. But other than that try not to be so paranoid about them even if you lighten them they will still be there. Love yourself the way you are hon, and if people ask about them tell them what happened or just tell them to mind there own business. If they stare at them ignore them.

I have horrible scars from a dog bite, too, on my arm and I use cocoa butter. You have to apply it a couple of times every day and it will eventually soften and help lighten the scars. Don't let them get sunburned either as sun is not good for the scars.

There are creams on the market that can help even out your skin tone.

But don't worry about those scars, if they're nothing but discolorations. Go ahead and wear your t-shirts!

This might be due to keloid scarring, usually responds well to steroid injections. If not, might be worth trying Bio Oil which is used for stretch marks and other scarring.
