I mean it's not like anything else the rappers haven't said. I mean not to sound racist, but whenever a black person says something like that he's looked over, but when a white person says it it's considered racism. Al Sharpton set him up so Imus would get trashed by the media. He knew he would say something like that. I don't agree with Imus and I don't agree with Sharpton. I tell you today, Americans cannot handle the truth!! I mean it's like those rappers want girls to become prostitutes and the boys to be pimps. It's crazy!!! Why do we keep bagging on Imus??!!

this is true...
however, imus has always been opinionated, rude, crude and tasteless...
people that are well known need to watch what they say and whom they say it to...
i, personally, think he got his due...i just wish that others would get theirs, too!
i also think that a black person can say that because he comes from there...or should i say his ancestors have, a white person can't say it because it offends a black person...just like if i said something about my mother, well, so be it, but no one else had better try to diss her!
it seems to me that the ones that are more racist these days are the blacks, hispanics, orientals, the minorities...and i can't really say as i blame them.
however, i, personally, did nothing to any of them...it MAY have been my ancestors who did something to their ancestors...but, not me personally...i am sick of hearing all the racist talk...people need to get over it

I think CBS and MSNBC did wrong by him. Mind you I do not like the guy at all. There are NBC and CBS Radio stations all around the country blasting out the very same crap that Imus said that morning. Sure it was wrong for him to say. But then I also saw where Imus handled it all wrong as well. When Imus realized he should make an apology to the Rutgers Womens B-ball team, how exactly did Sharpton get between Imus and making his apology where it should have been made, right from the get go. Imus could have made it just as public as his original statement that got him into the problem. If Imus had used his head, he could have got to Rutgers made his apology to the team before Sharpton made his next objection. Then we would have been hearing Sharpton swallow humble pie.

It is all ridiculous and people trying to be "holier than thou". We all have heard Al Sharptons racist ploys on TV for yrs, rappers glorify hos and b!tches and the "N" word--as well as other stereotypes. Al Sharpton just hates white people... and he will defend ANY black person --regardless of their guilt or innocence in the matter.

To call for someone to be fired and lose their livlihood is repugnant. Fact is, Imus does a LOT of charity work, He has raised millions for cancer, Katrina victims and a strew of other charities. He was one of the first to cry foul for the poor, black people from Katrina. People really need to educate themself on what this man is about.

Saying "nappy headed ho" hardly qualifies someone to be deemed a racist. It wasn't a nice comment--by any means. I wouldn't have said it...but I still realize that him making a stupid comment one time (or even a few times) hardly makes this man a racist.

Look at his ACTIONS, not his words. He is a comedic shock jock trying to get a laugh---regardless if you found it funny OR not. Look at what all this man has done for the black community and other community issues (IE cancer). He has a whole spew of charities he works with. Look it all up, Someone posted it on a website and I have seen it elsewhere, I just can't recall all of it now.

It is all basic First Amendment rights-- freedom of speech-- Howard Stern says way more racist AND sexist things than him...and I don't like Stern. But I dont think people don't reserve the right to listen to him, if they find him entertaining..That is their right. I just don't tune my radio to his station.

whew..long answer, sorry.

IMUS was thrown to the wolves because the advertisers threatened to pull their money from the networks that employed him!
That's the only time any action will be taken against anyone in media, when profit is threatened, that's why Fat Cow Rosie O'Donnell remains, and rap morons continue to record their stupidity, as long as someones making money from it, who cares about right/wrong. morals. ethics...don't you know?
