I bought a geforce 7800 gs, and tried to install it but they said my power supply didn't have enough watts and amps so I went and bought a new one that would help with that and now my new power supply won't work so therefore my video card will not work either, maybe I am hooking some of the cables up wrong or what?

Your new power supply (PSU) might have an extra switch at the back. Be sure it is turned on.

Observe the PSUs exhaust fan at the back of your casing. When you press the power switch and it turns on for a few seconds then shuts down, there could be something wrong in the connections. Your PSU is using its safety feature and could be shutting down due to an anomaly. Check your connections again.

If the PSU fan does not turn at all, check the connection of the power switch to the motherboard. You might have loosened it or altered its connection. The connector is labeled, make sure it gets into the right pin.

If still, nothing happens, you could try checking the PSU using the technician's quick test. Unplug first all the PSU connectors to the motherboard, videocard, drives, etc. Plug the PSU AC cord to the wall outlet or AVR. On the 20 or 24 pin ATX connector, short the green wire w/ the black wire next to it. (Although this is a low voltage system, exercise care and do not touch anything w/ your bare hands) These are the same pins that are being switched by the power button. If the PSU fan turns on, the PSU is OK. The problem could be the connections and I hope not the mobo.

If the PSU fails the quick test, return it for a replacement.
