i want to buy a Chevy El Camino but im looking for a fuel injected motor. I am not sure which year ELCOS were made fuel injected.

Fuel injection wasn't available on most g.m. models until late 1986 model year. some of thier higher end autos had it a year or so earlier as an added option (cadillac olds and some buicks.)

Your el camino has a computerized Quadrajet on it. The El Camino line was stopped before FI was common. If y ou have alot of money, Holley makes a stand alone FI system you can retrofit on, but it is kinda like a monkey taking a leak in a chas regester,, it runs in the money. Good Luck

an 81 is definitely not fuel injected. all the v8s where carbeurated, they never made a fuel injected v8 el camino. they did make 4.3 v6s, in the later years with Throttle body injection. you can always get an after market fuel injection kit.

I think all of the 1981 El Camino's were carburated

NO THEY WERE CARBERATED UNLESS SOMEONE INSTALLED AFTERMARKET PIECES ON IT
