I have bought a HP laptop (DV 6265) and i want to know whether i can use the adaptor in India or not as the power supply in India is 220V( a60Hz)nd not 110V(50hz) as in US

YES!!!

Laptop adaptors are "smart adaptors". They are "auto-volt" enabled.

Laptop power supplies are generally 110v - 220v 50hz or 60hz read it and see, you will need an adapter to use the American plug in an India socket

Yes. Most power adaptors for laptops, cell phones etc are made to handle a range of different voltages. Just to make sure, check that your power adaptor says: "INPUT: 100 - 240V, 1.5A, 50-60Hz".

I'm guessing you will need to buy a plug converter, that changes your 2-pin plug to a 3-pin. They are extremely cheap, and easily available anywhere.
