I like U2's music but a few small minded Rangers fans that I know claim that I'm a fool for listening to music by U2. They claim that U2 used to sponsor an Irish terrorist group, but going by the lyrics to 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', they are actually against the actions of this terrorist group. Is is possible that these so called Rangers fans are telling the truth or are just talking Rubbish just because Bono is supposedly a Celtic fan?

Does anyone know if U2 really are/were supporters of this Irish terrorist group?

Don't listen to such tribal nonsense, taking your lead on facts or current affairs from a pack of bigots (who are proud of being so) is ludicrous. Sir Bono would hardly have been given an honourary knighthood if a balaclava was sticking out of his back pocket.

Bono, nor any other member of U2 or anyone even associated with U2, has never once paid any money to or supported in any way any terrorist group.

This is without a doubt the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

You would be shocked as to who supported terrorist groups in Ireland. While doing an investigation on a Iranian terrorist group in texas; I found a catholic university run by Irish nuns sending money as well as having terrorists studing there. They were also in collusion with Iranian terrorists having them study there and actually run their organization from there. This was during the time the Shah was in exile and there was a lot of collusion between terrorists groups helping each other.

The more we've learned, the more lost we are (my quote). They started playing when they didn't know the instruments. People loved them because their music was of some other time and place yet so different. 3 members playing music whilst one singing literally speaks to people. Yet after all these years when it seems theres nothing left to appreciate doesn't neccessarily mean we have to search all possible reasons to demolish their image and success. All I can say is it is such a shame we've been as people and individual have done nothing for this world, nothing even worth a penny yet 'the four' pure at heart, with brotherhood and love of music when sing their hearts out and singing for decades do deserve love and respect. GOD BLESS U2!!!

"Bono has revealed for the first time how U2 was warned in the 1980s that the IRA would attempt to kidnap them after they spoke out against them in the US."
" The singer said his outspoken condemnation of the violent campaigns by paramilitaries and the resultant drop in funding in the US prompted the death threats."
" In the film, Rattle and Hum, Bono make a speech against the support that many Irish-Americans gave to the IRA campaign in the north"

I doubt that they would support any terrorist group. This is why they sung the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday", not in support of the terrorists but to allow people to understand how this type of hatred never brings tolerance to anyone.

Bono is an humanitarian, not just in words, but for the people.

Oh, God no!
Anyway unless they were Unionists he would cound as on anymore because the IRA gave up arms. Also what would he be doing since Northern Ireland gained independence from both Ireland and Britain a few weeks ago.

I think the "terrorist group" you're referring to is the IRA and there's no way in h-e double hockey sticks U2 would ever support them.

Dunno..
But a track they recorded on their Rattle and Hum album is called VAN DIEMENS LAND.
This track on the album fades out before the last verse.

This verse is as follows.

Still the gunman rules and the widows pay
A scarlet coat now a black beret
They thought that blood and sacrifice
could out of death bring forth life.

I have no idea what it means though.

He maximum unquestionably is. Lieberman has continuously been an enthusiastic supporter of AIPAC. in actuality, in the process the Congressional hearings with Gen. Patraeus's document on Iraq, it develop into Lieberman himself, no longer the pro-Iraq occupation conservatives, that stated the priority of springing up a 0.33 front in the conflict on Terror (tm) by unilaterally magnificent Iran. i do no longer think of naming IRGC as a terrorist entity itself constitutes a "announcement of conflict," in spite of the undeniable fact that it unquestionably enables lay the initiating for construction a case against the Iranian regime.
