I have a marked preference for Gibson over Fender. I prefer the tone of the Gibsons, and always find the Fenders a bit shrill. The Les Paul and SG are certainly the most widely used models; I have played both and liked both.

The Flying V looks good, but is not suited to everyone. Some people just look silly with a V -- either because their physical appearance is jarring with that guitar, or because their music doesn't seem to go. The same is true for the Explorer and Firebird.

If you can afford a Les Paul Gibson I would definitely say that would be a great choice. Those are like the Rolls Royce of guitars. They are the best sounding, most solid amazing guitars. Good luck with your future purchase.

Personally, I'd get a telecaster if you can... I luv Fender, as I have a Stratocaster.... I just like the feel and tone.. Although, out of the Gibsons, I'd go with a Les Paul... a classic!... one of those two tho.. just go to a little guitar shop and ask to hook them up and try them out. You'll really get a feel, then.. Hope this helped!

im a intermediate guitar player and i find guitar hero games more difficult than playing the real guitar. for one, you have six strings on a guitar, where as the game has 5 buttons. the game actually has you moving your finger further when you play single notes than actually playing real guitar. where a note on a real guitar might have you just fretting a lower or higer string. the game makes you fret a button that further. i like playing chords on the game. in that, it does feel like your actually playing chords. another thing is that you dont really have to look at a screen when playing a real guitar. so you do need more hand eye cordination to play the game. the songs in the game are set up pretty good. its not just random button presses, the game does have repeatable patterns. its defintely fun. its just easier to play real guitar.

Well, because of the guitars you prefer, I would have to say the gibson sg. But you cant just get a plain red/black one. You should get one that has like something cool on it like you should get a custom one that fits your style. Or, if you cant get that, go with the less rockish les paul

Are you in a band? If you are, what kind? I'm a guitarist who was in two metal bands. I think you should go with an Ibanez or a Fender Strat.

If you already have the Strat, I'd go with the telecaster. Easier action!

if there is a guitar center in your area go down and play all of them they have different sounds and the best way to know which you like best is to play one yourself
