They always talk about equal this and that. Why is it that we cannot have taxes where everyone is treated equal?

To the tax cuts to the rich person,

When the top 1% pay over 33% of the federal income taxes, they will get the proportion of the refund. You have to give refunds based upon how much you pay into it.

The bottom 33% do not pay federal income taxes. How are they to get a refund on something they do not pay.

Do not let yourself be duped into thinking that the Democrats demand equality.

They will only demand "equality" to the extent where as the intelligent and productive members of society are enslaved to the stupid and wasteful.

i.e. Affirmitive Action, Welfare, Universal healthcare, global warming, etc.

How dare you think for yourself when others can't think for themselves?

Why do you say the Democrats don't demand fair taxes? Do you think the Republicans now have a fair tax system, where the wealthiest Americans get enormous tax breaks and the middle class is taking it up the rear? Of course we need tax reform so that corporations and very rich people actually pay SOMETHING and the working stiff get a break! The Democrats actually know what it's like to work for a living, unlike the current Administration!

It would require a massive overhaul of the tax system, which requires much more bi-partisan support than either party has any hope of getting any time soon.

A flat fixed tax -- rather than a scaled percentage of income -- would also require massive changes to the budget process, and the studies alone for how to come up with reasonable numbers (if any could be calculated) will take years.

Good point. The top 2% pay more total dollars than the bottom 60%. That is mostly because a large percentage, around 35% pay no taxes at all.

Because, my genius friend, you can't have poor people shoulding the same percentage of taxes as rich people and expect that the effect will be the same. That's precisely why we have a progressive tax, because the wealthy can afford to pay more of their income towards taxes.

That being said, it is the middle class who ultimately pay the largest percentage of their income in taxes. The wealthy have always been able (especially now) to shelter a significant amount of their income in real estate, securities, and other investment vehicles.

Some people can barely afford to put food on the table. How are they going to pay taxes? While others buy their third mansion. That doesn't seem very equal to me, but that's the way it is. Take a million from a billionaire won't hurt him. Taking a hundred from a poor person will. That's why.

LOL Good one!

It would require a massive over-haul. Disband the IRS. Make tax attorneys and CPA's learn a new profession. Not to mention all the companies that make their living from tax season. But I say it is time. When an institution is out-moded, we get rid of it.

National Sales Tax. It's time.
