When I was 16 and was emancipated as an adult.. ( i was adopted as a child by my grandparents..grandpa had passed away and grandma was sick..she did not want me to become a ward of the state or end up in foster care at the age of 16 ) ..
anyway, the stipulation by the judge was I had to stay in school and be at least on the merit roll and graduate when i was supposed to, keep a part time job, and get in not one stitch of trouble.. i was also given my deceased fathers social security check to help maintain a residence..
It was hard but I did it..I had to grow up in a period of less than 24 hours at the age of 16..I really don't know how i managed it, I suppose fear and luck..and some support by my boyfriend and his parents ( we are still together and that was 14 years ago ) ..
I worked hard and still do to this day.I might not have all the material objects I desire, but I do have a home and a few nice things..working myself better, day by day...

Unfortunately, I never really realized it till I was about to turn fourteen. But, I realized it, and now I am an achiever my parents have a right to be proud of!

i found out when i was eighteen, I was just about to graduate out of high school, I thought up until then I could just breeze through school up which point i did. Even in my first semester of college i took a bunch of BS courses and got an inflated GPA, however next semester the clasess got a little harder and my GPA when down and so and so forth until i was on academic probation it was then I woke up and had to face the music.

10. My family didn't have money, so I used to sell greeting cards from door to door to get things I needed. I continued to work all through high school, and then put myself through college. I don't remember a time when I thought I could acheive or obtain anything without working for it.

I still haven't realized that. I have realized that you can achieve things by working smart, but it's still work.
