Simply stated, the digestive system is makes food absorbable into the body. It is the system of organs that take in food and turn it into products that the body can use to stay healthy. Waste products the body cannot use leave the body through the digestive system's bowel movements. The digestive system includes the salivary glands, mouth, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, small and large intestines, and rectum.

Basically the digestive system is for food to pass from the mouth to the esophagus stomach and intestines by secreting enzymes which break down the food so it can be absorbed in the bloodstream.

from the oral cavity, the food will be chopped mechanically into pieces by the teeth and the starch will be absorbed by the saliva. the bolus(food) will be swallowed by the tongue and it will travel in the esophagus the right away in the stomach. the stomach will absorb the protein by the digestive juices(pepsin). in the small intestine, the minerals and vitamins will be absorbed, while the water will absorb in large intestine. the large intestine also is the storage of the stool. the stool will come out in the anus........................sorrysorry for the wrong grammar: )

The function of the digestive system is to regulate the quality of your thinking and reaction times.
Because if your digestive system isn't working correctly, your eyes tear up, you get headaches, your butt hurts, you feel sluggish, you can't move easily, you are distracted, you can't focus, and you feel like - well....

That's a pretty broad question...but it does stuff like breaking down bacteria and food and anything basically that your body can't or won't use anymore. Once it goes down that path, there's no coming back. Its for exit only.
