What do Ivy Colleges look for in transfer students?

do they look at the type of school you go to (community, state), grades, high school rec, scores, choice of classes?

this will better my understanding in choosing which college i should go to...

i heard ivy colleges look at your high school record as well..is there a way to get past that?

Ivy colleges do not accept many transfers. You need to have excellent credentials and outstanding references from people who are connected to the college.

If you check the websites, you will see that for most Ivies the percent of freshmen who return for sophomore year is around 97-98%. So, there arent many spots for transfer students. Maybe only 5 - 10 per year. Or in an exceptional year, maybe 20 or 30. And I think I remember being told that they receive about 300 - 400 transfer applications annually each.

So, transferring in is not impossible, but it is probably pretty unlikely unless you are the kind of kid who could have gotten in there in the first place!
