If you and your boyfriend had been dating 5-6 years and he proposed to you and all, then stood up and told you it was a joke after you got all excited, how would you feel? What would you do?
This can be for both men and women.

This didn't actually happen to me, but I'm asking for a reason.

This is a great excuse for a nose bleed. And I don't mean yours!

He needs to be left alone, plain and simple! That's just cruel, and whoever the girl is, she needs to know that she can do better, and shouldn't waste her time on guys like him. If he thinks a proposal is a joke, then that should be an indicator of how seriously he takes the actual institution of marriage, which is not at all. What a loser!

Men are different and what they think might be funny isn't funny to us. Anyway that was very rude and I am not sure what I would do but you have deffinitly been together long enough but then again it depends on your age. But like your other answers which I got a few good chuckles a kick in the nuts never hurt (well us girls anyway). Have Fun!

Wow I would think that's being unbelievably cruel and just
plain mean. Sounds like he's also an immature brat who
has no respect for people's feelings. What would I do?
First of all, I wouldn't be with this loser for 5 minutes, let alone
5 years! DUMP HIM !!!!!!!

I would feel very embarrassed and very angry.

The only room for forgiveness might be if it where April fool's day.

He doesn't sound like husband material. If he ever pulls this again, turn him down bluntly and try to get it on video.

My response would have been:" Oh! you are right this relationship is a joke. Thought you knew we are through!"
HEHEHEHEHEHE! get it! it's a joke, HAHAHAHAHAH!
move on to someone who has more serious things to do with their life, be honest. Time passes before you know its 12 years and still no commitment, is this what you want????

I'd feel like I knew it was a joke all along. I wouldn't have been dating a guy longer than three years without marriage!

I'm sure he was looking for a reaction. Maybe he was testing his boundaries, but you have been together so long. I would feel bitter about being led astray. I would feel ashamed and just angry they would try and play me like that, but get over it, otherwise your letting someone control your thinking and emotions. Let them go, and see how they like it.

I would ask him how he would like me to transfer my hidden accounts (valuing over $150,000) to our shared checking account? Once he finished hooting and jumping up and down, I'd tell him that I was joking.

Then, I'd pack my things and leave him FLAT. What a jerk.
