hi there my coveret have hatched and i have no other tank and they are in my conmuaty tank ...... should i keep the light off and put a shet around it would that help them not get eaten or is there any other thing i can do ....... i hope i can keep them a live plase plase plase hellllppppppp thanks

If you mean convicts, they aren't mouth brooders but will take care of the fry most of the time. You shouldn't have any trouble from the other fish in the tank unless they are large and mean, like bigger cichlids. No need to darken the tank or cover it.

the convict perants will look after them leave them alone, u can keep the light on it wont be a problem for them what else do u have in the tank though as fights might brake out, dont try to separate baby's from the mum and dad as they feed from there slime coat and will die with out them, also don't panic when u see the mum and dad sucking the baby's into there moths they r not eating them just looking after them, good luck

Most chiclids are mouth brooder and will take care of there young aand will attack the other fish. they make plastic tank dividers with holes for water circulation
