4x² = 5 - 4x

4x² + 4x = 5 - 4x + 4x

4x² + 4x = 5

4x² + 4x - 5= 5 - 5

4x² + 4x - 5 = 0

Let

a = 4

b = 4

c = - 5

Quadratic formula

x = - b ± √b² - 4ac / 2a

x = - 4 ± √(4)² - 4(4)(- 5) / 2(4)

x = - 4 ± √16 - (- 80) / 8

x = - 4 ± √16 + 80 / 8

x = - 4 ± √96 / 8

x = - 4 ± 9.797958971 / 8

- - - - - - - - -

Solving for +

x = - 4 + 9.797958971 / 8

x = 5.797958971 / 8

x = 0.724744871

- - - - - - -

Solving for -

x = - 4 - 9.797958971 / 8

x = - 13.79795897 / 8

x = - 1.724744871

- - - - - -s-

I'd use the quadratic formula

x= [-b + or - sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)] / 2a
when f(x)= ax^2 + bx + c

4x^2 + 4x - 5 = 0

x1= [-4 + sqrt(16 - 4(4)-5)] / 2(4) = [-4 + sqrt(96)] / 8
approx: 0.725

x2 = [ -4 - sqrt(96)] / 8
approx: -1.725

4x^2=5-4x subtract 5-4x from each side
4x^2+4x-5=0
x=(-4+/-√(16+80))/8
x=(-4+/-√96)/8
x=(-4+/-4√6)/8
x=-1/2-√6 /2
x=-1/2+√6 /2

4x^2+4x-5=0
Use the quadratic formula:
x=-b±√b^2-4ac/2a
a=4,b=4,c=-5
x=(-4±√(4)^2-4(4*-5))/2(4)
x=(-4±√16-4(-20))/8
x=(-4±√16+80)/8
x=(-4±√96)/8
x=(-4±4√6)/8
x=(-1±√6)/2
x=-1.725 or .725
