Because if he admits there is a civil war, he has to change his tune that we are only fighting terrorists over there.
Acknowleding the civil war (that even the Pentagon has called it) would require also acknowledging that many of the people fighting over there are doing so for purely internal reasons, and would have no interest in the US if the US we're occupying their country.
That cuts against his "fight them there" policy.

i detect that the term 'Islamic' particularly metaphorical and bigger guy made than some thing to signify the 'civil conflict' between diverse communities of Muslims. The civil conflict is already an ongoing 'ingredient' which the human beings or British have not have been given any ability/say over. historic previous had proved that the human beings are noticeably huge mess united statesin 'peacekeeping' strategies, noticeably indoors the middle East/Asian worldwide places. For the British, as i might see it at contemporary, are purely 'kissbutt' supporters of the american reason in Iraq. in my opinion, they're dropping time and government/tax investment and assorted probability loose lives. My suggestion/view? pass away them on my own and that they shall hit upon their own answer. consistent with probability yet yet another optimal proper option is to pass away it to a diverse 'impartial' Muslim us of a exterior of the middle East to be a mediator at peace talks. consistent with probability the super Malaysian politicians can attempt this by using introducing the Islam Hadhari theory to the middle East. the best Minister had an ambition of taking a lead for all Islamic worldwide places indoors the OIC in one between his contemporary-day speeches to boot.

Just by the wording of your question alone I see that you do not want a truthful answer you want to bash the president.
First off Iraq is not part of the U.S in any way shape or form, other wise you would be paying about .75 cents for a gallon of gas.
Second it is not a civil war it is a conflict of a few hard line radical Muslim terrorist that want to kill anyone and EVERYONE that will not bow to the will of their extreme religion
We are helping to create, educate and support those Iraq people who wish for a more civil and 21 century Iraq. So that the extreme terrorist will not be able to come over to this country and waste your worthless free speech a** !!!!!

Mr Bush is rarely troubled by the truth - a trait that first showed itself in the "result" of his first presidential election and has continued unabated ever since.
I find the answers to this question very encouraging because they show that at least some Americans (I assume most of the answerers are Americans) have seen through Bush and might actually vote his party out at the next election. Prior to this I'd got the impression that all Americans are right-wingers who actually believe what Bush has been telling them since 9/11. There's hope for your country yet! Keep it up!!!

I have begun to believe that our Republican President, George W. Bush has a mental shut down of reality. I can't see how anyone can honestly and truthfully believe that continued war in Iraq is justified. Only Republican President George W. Bush and Senator John McCain can perceive positive improvements in the war in Iraq.
The real danger here is that our military is now drained of fighting men/women. Their equipment is worn out. Weapons wear out fast when used in desert climates where sand gets into firing chambers and gobs up the firing mechanisms.
We have our open borders in the South, Texas unprotected. Our shores are open to hostile intrusion.
This President, George W. Bush, and his right wing supporters is a danger to the security of the United States.
Thank you

First off he is President Bush. Secondly Iraq is not an offshoot of the US. Thirdly It is not a civil war, These fighters are foreign thus not making this a conflict civil war. This is a Guerrilla/Terrorist war.... Foreign murderers from Iran, Syria, and members of terrorist groups are involved in this war. Stop listening the Liberal socialist and do your own research.

This is what happens when the people elect a president who has no foreign policy experience and an inability to comprehend complex historical and political affairs.
