There is no "best" in any category - they're all very different and equally important. Was Hendrix better than Vai or Satriani are? He came first, so yes. Their techniques are superior to anything Hendrix could have even dreamed of, so no. But he started the guitar revolution, so yes. But they took it to the next level, so no. And so on...
Which, of curse, is ridiculkaous because any jazzer can eat them all alive in terms of the musical knowledge and technique... and then classical players.... NO ONE IS THE BEST, very simple, only so many fools slap that label on whomever they like the best and think it's a valid criterion.

There's a few guitarist I marvel at like Prince, Jimi Hendrix , Eddie Van Halen. Best drummer...I think Lars Ullrich from Metallica.

Best guitarist HANDS DOWN is Stevie Ray Vaughan. That guy has precision, power, AND emotion.

And drummer hands down is Neal Peart from Rush.
