I got my bag of clothes that I bought stolen when I was in Chicago a while back. I have all the evidence, and the person responsible has been appropriately punished. I now want to file a lawsuit against the City of Chicago for promoting the themselves as "safe and beautful" on their tourist website (owned by the city government).

Can I possibly do that?

No...governments are usaully immune from lawsuits...and especially this one.

You believe you have a cause of action for false advertising...actually you don't

Chicago did what was called puffing...exagerating or making an opinion that a reasonable person would rationalize...Here the reasonable person would know there is crime in Chicago as there is in all large cities in the world. ...no court, especially an Illinois court...where the suit would be would allow this suit...feel fortunate that they caught the guy.

No. Any advertising can use "puffery" to promote their product. How many ads for cleaning products do you see that say they are "the best"? They cannot all be the best. But this is allowed. Chicago can also be "safe", depending on where you are in the city. They don't say "where", just in Chicago. I live in Arkansas, the "Natural State". Can I sue because they allow breast implants?

i think of you will discover out that it will value you greater funds to sue. frequently even if in case you win the case you will no longer get you funds back, your vehicle become towed by ability of a private organisation, how are you going to get you funds back from them? sue them to? the terrific subject to do is to ***** to the city council and attempt and get this cop fired.

You could do it but you will waste much of your own time and money in doing so. Chances are your court costs will outweigh what you've been awarded, and that's if the judge decides that your case is reasonable (which he probably won't).
