Lol it is not a racist question but i think the reason why i say axe instead of ask is because of my african accent now that ive been here long enough im so used to saying it like that, i dont realize but there are people from the "hood" or whatever they call it ,say it like that because its the southern way of speaking. THATS ONLY SOME NOT ALLL. So no one get offended.

No, I don't think this is a racist question but it might lead to a racist answer. And Blacks aren't the only ones who pronounce it that way a lot of whites do too. It's a colloquial thing mostly found in the mid-Atlantic East Coast area and the south, I think at least. When I was growing up in Cali. never noticed it until I got here and I don't do that and I used to get crap for it a lot when I first moved. Ask is pretty easy but "asked" does have a rather hard sound and it's just easier for people to say "axed", which is whatever... Just don't spell it that way!

This question opperates on a faulty assumption. Consider how many people there are in the world. Now think about the fact that many of these people don't even speak English.

I've never heard anyone pronounce ask as axe.

My husband pronounces it like that and I just think its bc he's from tha dirty south..lol...but I'll ask.

Maybe for the same reason they say. dis,dat dim. you know, this, that ,them to name a few. We are not all born equal.
