If it looks like a goldfish and it was a feeder, then you really do have a goldfish. Bread isn't the best thing to feed it though, better a little piece of lettuce or a pea or some cucumber, some veggie like that. He will really enjoy it and it's very good for him.

The bread is water-logged and all swollen up (just from being in the water) way before it gets in the fishs' tummy. Think about it ;)

I give mine a small piece of white bread every once in awhile and they never have had problems.

But if you've had it for 3 years it must be healthy, so it won't starve to death in one day, either.

no no dont feed bread. if you luv this fish and dont want problems trust me bread is a no no. bread will actually swell in the fish and cause the swim bladder to become unbalanced. he will start to float and could kill him! i have a feeder goldie in my pond hes the best thing! hes about 8 inches now. feed your little guy some fresh fruit or vegetables instead. good luck!

Yes. It's certainly not the best thing - but better than starving. You can also use ground or small pieces of dry dog food. Goldfish are carp - they can eat just about anything. Be kind. Try to keep it healthy. Good luck.

I wouldn't do it. You can feed them boiled, chopped up greens such as lettuce and spinach (all of my fish LOOVE spinach). They can go a day without food.
