Her character in the book was much more attractive and the woman who starred in the remake (which Stephen King was involved with) was very attractive, but the woman in the Jack Nicholson version spoilt the film a bit for me. I hated it when she ran through the house screaming with a knife wobbling backwards and forwards in her hand - wouldn't have minded too much if Jack had caught her.
