The salary is horrible... entry level.. but living life costs nothing either... housing, food, transportation.. all free.
You will never find better benefits in any civilian job..
(of course you will probably never find the same amount of risk) After about 10 years or so.. you will actually be making decent money.. you still don't get paid much, but you will have a comfortable life.
And, after 20 or 25 years .. that is the true reward.. when you can get outta there and begin your civilian career with all that experience.. most civilian defense contractors with that much army service have people begging them to go and work for their company .. and they pay very very well.. 100k/yr+

I keep reading that Pat Tillman first gave up $3.6 million playing football for and Army ranger salary of $18,000. The actual salary depends on a lot of things like rank, jump pay, specialties learned, years in, hazard pay for being in a combat, ect.

1. rank e-1 - e-9 or o-1 - o-10
2 . airborne status
3 married
