The moon is just a few days before new, so it's close to the sun and hard to see. Look for it in the eastern sky just before dawn; it will be a thin crescent.

The Moon is visible everywhere on Earth but, because of the Earth's rotation, it is only visible for roughly 12 out of every 24 hours. At the moment, it is between Last Quarter and New Moon. It rose this morning around 5 am local daylight time, just before the Sun, and set about 5 pm local daylight time. Because of its motion around the Earth, it rises and sets a bit later ever day.

The moon became a new moon on April 11. A new moon is in the direction of the sun. I would assume by now, Apr 17, you should see it just after sunset in the western sky.

The moon right now is a thin sliver, called a waning crescent, that sets about 5 p.m. tonight. If you want to know more about when it rises or sets and what phase it is in, look at this link:

It's fun to watch how it changes shape, and when it is visible, day or night. Happy Moon watching!

If you can't see it at night, then it is out during the daytime. If the earth is casting a shadow on the moon during daytime, it will be more difficult to see. Just like when you see a sliver of moon at night, it would be like that during the daytime if the moon was not out at night time.
