Generally listen to Public radio throughout the day and evening. Like much better than TV most of the time because of the variety of music and programs offered. TV practically does nothing for my brain.

Public radio has a wide variety of programming, quite the opposite of esoteric, but then again, I don't enjoy MTV.

We do not get anything BBC yet and Iwish we would. Our station doesn't get enough funding yet.

My favorite is 'Ideas' on the CBC Radio (Canada's public broadcaster). It covers a unique mix of topics. I am not sure where you are located, but I believe that NPR carries some programs from CBC, and if you are near the border, you may pick up one of its stations on FM.

I agree that public broadcasting offers great programs.

do not listen to it. it seems way too esoteric for my liking at all.
