Don Imus should NOT have been fired over his comment, nor should any Radio or TV personality. This is SUPPOSE to be a FREE COUNTRY with FREE speech. It seems the free speech part only applies when 'Blacks" want to bad mouth or demean "whites" This country definitely is headed the wrong way, letting "blacks" take over and have the control they so desperately desire...

Yes, I do think it was justified. Imus has a history of making racist and other comments that put people down. His remark also demeaned all women, not just black women, when he called them "hos". I read an excerpt of his and his producer's conversation on air and there were other things said that put the team down, other than just that often quoted sentence. I bet Limbaugh and Hannity and others will be more careful about what they say in the future.
It's not only black people who were appalled at what he said and I certainly don't think they're being too sensitive by being angry about public .

What he said was totally inappropriate but what happened to freedom of speech? Is it now only for the Jesse Jacksons' and sharptons of the world?
Don Imus was only fired as a political point. Look at all the Imus family has done for sick children. What has Jesse and Al done to help sick children regardless of color???

Popular tastes are a great decider of what stays on the air or goes off. Imus' comment was sure to turn off a lot of folks, and obviously the sponsors felt that they didn't want to be associated with that sort of negativity. So, simple economics prevailed, and the show wasn't going to be sponsored. End result...bye bye Imus.

Seems to me when you look through the hoopla that he was not really fired because of the content of what he SAID, but because the advertisers pulled their support. The bottom line is what it is all about, not actual concern for who may por have not been offended.
Of course what he said was offensive. Personally I think he is an idiot. But I thought that before this incident, and I choose not to listen to him. When broadcasters get fired for these sort of mistakes it may seem noble to fire them but it is in reality just another blow to the freedoms we have to stop taking for granted before they are all gone...

No, it's bull crap. It's double standard bull crap. I am not a fan of this gentleman, but I have heard worse from all kinds of people. Before the Michael Richards incident, that big thing I can remember was Jimmy the Greek's incident. What can you do?

Racism is not racism if it is against whites. Only whites have to observe the rules.
It is called political correctness and like so many other absurdities it originated in your great country.

Whites should protest Sharpton and Jackson wherever they go. It makes me mad that they want all whites to be killed. What's up with that??

What he said was dumb, but is that entire team black, or was it just the black girls that got pi**ed off?
