Rolfe is a very controversial figure on several levels. I've heard him described as the most prolific mass murderer in the history of mankind, for his introduction of tobacco into Virginia. On the other hand he is also called a savior because he was able to bring a cash crop to Virginia and ultimately tobacco saved the colony.

As far as Pocahontas goes, there is debate here also. Was she kidnapped and forced to marry him or was this something she chose of her own free will? My thought is it might be both, she was initially kidnapped but then fell in love with her captor, a common psychological phenomena, and they had one child and she died in England, and is buried, somewhere near the church at Gravesend.
